Things You Should Know About Cooperative Teaching Strategies
Cooperative learning proved to work for all sorts of student because it encourages learning and fosters friendships and respect among groups of pupils. The diversity in a team is the benefit for every pupil. Cooperative learning is beneficial for any pupil learning another language, for example.
Cooperative learning mechanism
Cooperative learning activities encourage peer discussion which assists in understanding of content and concepts and in improvement of language skills. You can assign every student for a special action or rotate roles. It prevents from pupils selecting their own functions.
By rotating, pupils develop the abilities they need to practice most of all. There are several approaches which can be used to learn content:
Let students take turns in naming and go around a group.
Let students turn to writing one word at a time.
Ask all students in each team.
Ask pupils to number off in their teams. Pupils put their minds together to develop along. Call a number and ask all pupils with that number to stand up and answer a question.
Assign each 4th pupil in a team to read from any text, or every 4th to memorize a text.
Each student completes her or his assignment and after that teaches others or can help a team by contributing a piece of a puzzle. Pupils form two concentric circles or two lines facing every other. You ask a question and pupils discuss an answer with a pupil facing them. For a small variation, students can write queries on cards to review them for a test through the Tea Party method.
